Had to cut short our vacation to the Smokies due to the despicable terrorist attack. I did manage to get in about 300 miles of mountain riding. The roads around Dahlonega/Suches, Georgia are unbelievable. The
Savage is the ultimate road bike for these tight twisting roads. Sorry to say, the first 5 minutes of riding these roads scared my wife so bad (new to biking) I rode the next three days solo.
It probably didn't help matters that the first stop sign we came to was at the end of a very steep downhill
and tee'ed into another very steep downhill. The end of the road we were on was at the same steep angle the main road was on. So, being a flatlander (Florida), I used the roadway as a visable reference as I came to a stop. Well, gravity always wins. Even though I was quick to put a foot down, the bike was at an angle relative to gravity. I could not hold up our weight plus the bike being at that angle. Just like in a cartoon we fell right over on the left side. Humiliating for sure, we were not hurt, only my pride and my left mirror. This did not instill a great deal
of confidence in my riding buddy. Anyhow, the weather was great (quite cool at the mountain tops) and the riding was magnificent.
